Lesley Frost Ballantine is a recognized author of children’s books and the last of Robert Frost’s surviving children. Besides Lesley being an author, she was a lecturer on English literature. Lesley’s father was a recognized poet of history, and even after he died, he left a legacy for his children to follow.
Robert Frost had five children, and Lesley Ballantine was the last surviving. Mrs. Ballantine used to live in Manhattan before she relocated to Fairfield in 1980.
Lesley Frost Ballantine’s Career
Lesley frost was a hardworking lady, and her literary work has been recognized. She was named the head of the United States Information Library in Madrid in 1945, which later became the American Library in Madrid under Lesley Frost’s charge.
Lesley had a home in La Granja, and near her home, she established a La Escuela de la Tahoma, a Spanish language and culture school. Among her notable roles was being a faculty member of King-Smith Studio School for Girls in Washington and Rockford College. Moreover, she was a lecturer on United states culture for the State Department.
Lesley Frost Ballantine wrote several books like Digging Down to China, Not Really, Really Not Really, and Ging on Two, among others.

Lesley Frost was a family lady who married Dr. Joseph Ballantine on August 23, 1952. Dr. Joseph was the head of the State Department’s Far Eastern Division and performed excellent work. Dr. Joseph Ballantine died in 1973, but the couple had two daughters.
The surviving daughters of Lesley frost are Wilber, a State Representative in Fairfield, and Dr. Lesley Francis. Moreover, Lesley was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren and a great-grandmother.
Lesley Frost Ballentine’s Father
Robert Frost was Lesley Frost Ballentine’s father, and he is a renowned poet in history. Robert Frost was born in San Francisco, but the family relocated to Lawrence, Massachusetts, in 1884 after Frost’s father died.
Frost published his first book when he was forty years, but that did not mean he would not do more. His first poem, My Butterfly, was published, and he was accepted as a professional poet. Robert Frost continued with his career, and before he died at 88 years, he had become the most famous poet of his time.
After Robert Frost’s first poem was published, he celebrated by publishing two copies, one of himself and the other for his fiancée. He published thirteen more poems in his life before he passed on.
The American Magazines constantly rejected his work, forcing him to do other jobs like teaching in school and working on a farm in Derry. In 1912, he relocated his family to England, and his work found more professional success there.
In 1913 and 1914, he published two more books, writing about England. The two books were a success for Robert, and when he returned to the United States in 1915, he was a respected literary figure. The company that had rejected his work now sought it.
Lesley Frost Ballantine’s Death
Lesley Frost Ballantine died on July 9, 1983, in Fairfield, Connecticut, United States, at 83. She was survived by her two daughters, seven grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her cause of death was not revealed to the public.
