Jacques Rio Emery is a face unfamiliar to many, but he is in the spotlight as a celebrity child. He is the son of actress Lori Singer and lawyer Richard Emery. Lori Singer is an actress and musician famous for her roles in the television series Fame, the musical drama Footloose, and the neo-noir film Trouble in Mind. Rio’s father, Richard, is an award-winning lawyer and a founding partner of Emery, Celli, Brinckerhoff Abady Ward & Mazel LLP. The couple was married for about 14 years.

Jacques Rio Emery was born on 1 March 1991. Rio’s parents kept the details of his upbringing away from the limelight. Rio graduated from Birch Wathen Lenox high school, where he played basketball and competed on the varsity track. Rio’s mother, Lori Singer, was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, on 6 November 1957 to Jacques Singer, a protégé and conductor, and Leslie, a concert pianist. Her father worked as the conductor of the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra. When she was four, her family relocated to Portland, Oregon, where her father worked as lead conductor of the Portland Symphony Orchestra from 1962 to 1972. She has three siblings: a fraternal twin brother named Gregory, a violinist, and two older brothers named Marc and Claude.

At thirteen, Lori made a debut as a soloist with the Oregon Symphony. In 1971, she attended a summer music camp in New York alongside her brother. She joined the Juilliard School at the age of fourteen, becoming the youngest graduate of the institution. After graduation, she served with the Western Washington University Symphony Orchestra. In 2008, she performed as a soloist at Carnegie Hall, where she performed a hymn in memory of Martin Luther King Jr.

In 1982, she debuted as an actress playing Julie Miller in the first two seasons of the television series Fame. She starred in several other movies like Footloose, The Man with One Red Shoe, and Trouble in Mind.

She married lawyer Richard Emery in 1980 and had a son with him before divorcing in 1996. She has kept her personal information under the radar since then.

Jacques Rio Emery’s Father

Richard David Emery is Rio’s father. He is an American lawyer and former Chair of the Civilian Complaint Review Board from 2014 to 2016. Emery has won several awards and honors in his line of duty, including the 1989 Park River Democrats Public Service Award, the 2008 Children’s Rights Champion Award, and 2016’s City & State NY’s Responsible 100 Award.

After divorcing Rio’s mother in 1996, he married Melania Levitsky in 2002. They have a daughter together. Unfortunately, they divorced in 2020.
