Daniel Gerald Kennedy was born in Elmira, Chemung, New York, on 29 September 1912 to Daniel J. Kennedy and Katherine Love. Daniel had three siblings: Charles F. Kennedy, J. Lawrence Kennedy, and Elizabeth Kennedy. He also had a half-brother named William F. Love, Jr. his stepfather was William Francis Love. He married Nancy Kennedy.  Nancy Helen Kennedy (Colgan) was born on November 19, 1919, in Brooklyn, United States, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Colgan. Daniel and Nancy had four children, Susan Elizabeth Kennedy, Dan Kennedy, James O’Kane Kennedy, and their celebrity daughter Mary Claire “Mimi” Kennedy.

Mimi was born on September 25, 1948, and married actor Larry Dilg in 1978. Larry Dilg was born on 8 June 1947 in Oceanside, USA.  The couple has two adorable children: Cisco Dilg and Molly Dilg.

Daniel’s wife Nancy died in 1990 and he died on 15 April 1991 from the complications of a stroke.

Daniel Gerald Kennedy was a local lawyer and former Monroe County Bar Association president. Before his law career, he worked on The New Yorker magazine staff. He lived a simple life away from the spotlight, but his daughter beat the odds and rose to stardom over the years. Speaking of his daughter Mimi, is an actress, author, and activist. She got her start in the theater with the Rochester Community Players, appearing in Agatha Christie’s ‘Spider Web’ in 1960 when she was 12.

In the 1970s, she was in the musical Rhinegold, featuring songs by her friend Jim Steinman. She was a member of the cast of ‘The National Lampoon Show,’ directed by John Belushi, who also starred in it. She co-starred in numerous short-lived television sitcoms before her best-known role as Ruth Sloan on ‘Homefront’.  Her breakthrough roles were in Chuck Lorre’s sitcoms ‘Dharma & Greg’ and ‘Mom’, for which she received a nomination for the Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Guest Performer in a Comedy Series.  She has also appeared in various films, including; Pump Up the Volume, Erin Brockovich, In the Loop, Due Date, Midnight in Paris, and The Five-Year Engagement.

She made many guest appearances on television and in films like ‘Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and Drop Dead Diva. She is involved in several progressive activist causes, including Progressive Democrats of America for which she serves as board chairperson. She is a regular contributor to the LA Progressive. Her mid-life memoir ‘Taken to the Stage: The Education of an Actress’ was published by Smith & Kraus in 1996. Mimi’s husband, Larry is also an actor known for his roles in ‘Ghostbusters, Strangers Kiss, and The New Mike Hammer.
